Mons Veneris (Mandorla - Yoni - Vesica Piscis)
De lengte as van Mons Veneris ligt precies is de oost – west equinox, de hoogste stand van de zon in 2013 op 20 maart om 11:02 uur en 22 september om 20:44 uur GMT. Bij de equinox is de lengte van dag en nacht overal op aarde ruwweg gelijk en komt de zon precies in het oosten op.
De breedte as van M.V. ligt in de zuid – noord equinox zodat tijdens de zomer solstice in 2013 op 21 juni om 05:04 uur de mandorla extreem eenzijdig wordt aangelicht door de zon.
Mons Veneris is zowel vizier, kompas als zonnewijzer.
De maten van de Mandorla en de cirkels zijn als volgt:
Lengte = 210cm
Breedte = 120cm
Diameter buiten cirkel = 360cm
Diameter binnen cirkel = 240cm
Diameter oog/vizier = 40cm
Breedte vizier = 40cm
In de buiten cirkel staan 4x5 = 20 paaltje met een blauwe top (ideaal zouden het leds zijn die bij te weinig licht ’s avonds blauw oplichten) en op de punten waar de assen de cirkel snijden, 2x4, zijn ze op de equinox rood en de solstice geel.
Mons Veneris wordt gemaakt van de aarde die wordt verwijderd, compleet met alle zaden, om het gebied binnen de buiten cirkel te maken en het terrein te egaliseren, indien noodzakelijk aangevuld met extra klei grond van elders in het bos of uit opslag. In overleg en op basis van beschikbaarheid, wordt de aarde ingezaaid met een korte, dichte gras variant. Zo ‘mossig’ mogelijk.
De ringen worden dik bedekt met twee kleuren hout snippers, duidelijk natuurlijke kleur verschillen of anders ecologisch gekleurd, of twee kleuren steen grit, afhankelijk van hetgeen beschikbaar is.
Het vizier, scherp uitgesneden uit de aarde, wordt aan de binnenzijde bekleed met riet of bambu, terwijl het oog bestaat uit een metalen of plastic halve bol gevuld met water van 40cm doorsnede.
Mocht een van deze voorstellen geselecteerd worden voor realisatie, dan volgt een inventarisatie, qua materiaal en techniek, in overleg met de opdrachtgever en kunnen zowel de maat verhoudingen als de te gebruiken materialen worden aangepast.
Het huidige formaat en volume van Mons Veneris is gebaseerd op een ‘budget loze’ productie in zeer korte tijd. Het huidige formaat is bovendien toegesneden op, en specifiek voor, de gekozen locaties.
Materialen voor de sculptuur: plakkerige kleigrond, gekleurde houtsnippers, riet.
Groeiende bodemdekkers uit het bos, mos of zaden die in het bos voor de beplanting worden gebruikt.
Definities:
Mandorla
is the Italian word for "almond."
The mandorla is an ancient symbol of two circles coming together, overlapping one another to form an almond shape in the middle. The circles symbolise interacting but complementary opposites. The space within the overlap is the place in which we are called to "remain", the "liminal space" .
This is the place where you arrive after you leave one room and have not yet entered another. In this place, you are living on the threshold and this requires faith. All transformation takes place in liminal space.If we deny one of the opposites (eg. our shadow, death, ..), the circles may only touch; they do not intersect. In this situation, we are polarised, out of balance. Perhaps too when we become wholly integrated, the overlap is total and there appears to be only one circle (for awhile anyway). It symbolises for us the tensions of life, the tension of complementary opposites:

Vesica Piscis
It is also another word for the Vesica Piscis, the Yoni of the Goddess, symbolizing the interactions and interdependence of opposing worlds and forces. As the almond-shaped overlapping of two circles, it represents the union of opposites.

The term Yoni heralds from a culture and religion in which women have long been regarded and honored as the embodiment of divine energy and where the female genitals are seen as a sacred symbol of the Great Goddess. Ever since our prehistoric ancestors began to practice religion and art, humanity has envisioned and symbolically expressed the cosmic forces of creation, life, and death in representation of human genitalia. Fertility cults centered on phallic worship are well documented, but older and even more pervasive are the cults of the Goddess and her vulva.
